Madison

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Madison, I am a 19 year old hairstylist by day and dancer/ dance teacher by night. I enjoy spending any free time I have with my family or watching friends!

What do you love most about dance?

My favourite part about dance is being challenged. I love being pushed and inspired by myself and others to always improve. Another favourite of mine is performing. The best feeling ever is getting lost in a routine on stage.

Which platforms do you use on Social Media and why?

I like using Instagram or Facebook to post videos and pictures of my dancing. I love making boomerangs of jumps or kicks. (Instagram and Facebook have both helped me start my career as a hairstylist. It's the perfect way to help me display my work and help me gain a clientele.)

What does Social Made Local mean to you?

Social made local means encouraging people through unique and original content that really reflects who you are... showing the world what YOU have to offer.

What are some pages, people or sources of inspiration for you on Social Media?

Some pages that inspire me on social media are @purenrgdanceco, @misskellidance, @jsamsmith, @caleyandkelsey, all amazing pages to follow if you are a dance lover! I also love scrolling through my Instagram discovery feed to watch any dance or hair videos! Of course a huge inspiration for anyone on Social media would be @tsquaredsocial. The challenges and events they hold are always inspiring and will help you to evolve into a better, more impactful person on social media.

Ruben

Tell us a bit about yourself.

My name is Ruben, I've been doing parkour for about 2 years now, and I have a background in Taekwondo and recreational gymnastics. I also have a budding interest in photography and videography + editing, and have just recently acquired my own DSLR camera.

What do you love most about parkour?

For me, parkour has been a tool most of all. A tool to overcome fears, a tool to enhance my level of physical fitness and capabilities, and it’s also been a way to increase my confidence. Parkour is a mindset; its looking at something you want, and saying "how can I get there? what steps do I need to take to realize this goal?"

Which platforms do you use on Social Media and why?

I use Instagram almost exclusively, for 2 reasons. First, since parkour is mostly video based, the way Instagram is set up really caters to photo/video with everything being organised in one spot, and being able to scroll through people's profiles and see everything they've posted. Secondly, it's what a majority of the parkour community already uses, and so it’s pretty easy to find everyone, use community hashtags, and interact with other people.

What does Social Made Local mean to you?

This is probably the one that I've thought about the least, but in all practicality, I would view it as connecting to a community in a way that is real, a way that has depth, and relationships between people. Its not superficial in a sense like "oh you comment on my post, and I'll comment on yours" and thats the whole interaction. Its an exchange of ideas, and connections between individuals where everybody learns and connects on a personal level.

What are some pages, people or sources of inspiration for you on Social Media?

This one is difficult because there are so many places that we can get inspiration from, sometimes its hard to nail just a few. The Ampisound youtube channel has some really inspirational videos, especially "The Movement of Time". Daniel Ilabaca also has a video which some people have mixed feelings about called "Choose Not To Fall" that I really love. As for Instagram, Esty.Tomas has a really good photography page that highlights England's beautiful architecture and cityscapes.
We had such a great time working with Ruben and Madison.  Thank you for sharing your talents.  Also big thanks to the ladies at Revamp Salon Co. for some killer braids.
