Social media. For all the good, the bad and the #ugly it’s here to stay. Every day people are learning how to use this powerful tool better and as content creators we always try to focus on the positive. So... here are some the things we actually love about social media. CurationMany people view social media as overwhelming or like it’s a lot of information. It absolutely can be. People being smart about it are curating their feeds and their content creation. From the consumer point of view, it’s never been easier to create a unique feed of the content you find relevant. Choosing to follow pages that inspire you and making your experience personalized is something we couldn’t achieve with mediums like television. When you consider this from the perspective of a content creator there is also a great opportunity to craft your social image. Your social image is the way you want to represent yourself or brand. This image can be directed any way a content creator chooses. So, is this social image your authentic self? Like all expression it’s a version of the truth intended for an audience. MobilityWe are all using a new language to express ourselves and share our experiences. How we practice is with a small device we carry in our pockets. The extreme mobility of this tool has created infinite potential for documenting and distribution. Being able to produce content on the go isn’t just convenient, it’s timely. Especially with live video and the speed of posting. The moments we share have the potential to connect us in real time with our followers, including them in the experience without even having to be there. Using mobile to locate places of interest, find reviews and preview the experience of physical spaces has become the norm. Social media allows us the chance to start a conversation with literally anyone right from the palm of our hand. CommunityWe say #socialmadelocal at T Squared, but the definition of local is changing. You can find anyone in the world with similar interests and connect with them. Our sense of community has become different as we find our local through commonality instead of pure physical geography. It’s this sense of alignment that’s really unique to social media. You can find like-minded people, connect with their creativity, learn from them and engage in meaningful ways. Peer sharing on social media isn’t just amazing, it’s also powerful. The line between online and in real life has become blurred and it’s the best part of social media. Keeping people close through content and continuing those conversations face to face is where the magic happens. For us social media is a balancing act. It’s about documenting moments and inviting people along for the ride. It’s not about perfection, it’s about heart. What we really love about social media is making the world just a little friendlier with each new post, every shared experience and the intentions we set to create a better human experience.
